The Project: Ray Kappe House

The Place: The Desert Palisades, Palm Springs, California

The Conversation: The developer commissioned architect Ray Kappe, FAIA, considered one of the great innovators of modern architecture and founder of Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), to create the signature home for his panoramic hillside development. Our firm was asked to furnish the home for the premier at Palm Springs Modernism Week 2021.

The Design Story: Ray Kappe passed away in 2019 and the project was completed under the supervision of his son, Finn Kappe. We developed a design concept to honor Ray Kappe’s legacy by featuring iconic mid-century modern designs from Ray and Charles Eames, George Nelson, Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen alongside new modern designs from manufacturers Trica, Knoll, Herman Miller, Carl Hansen & Son, Louis Poulsen and CaneLine.
