The Project: Albert Frey, Raymond Cree House

The Place: Palm Springs, California

The Conversation: Our client, Palm Springs Life Magazine, tasked us with furnishing the Cree House designed by famed modernist architect, Albert Frey. The historic hillside house was toured during Palm Springs Modernism week and featured in Palm Springs Life Magazine.

The Design Story: We love this dignified gem of a house we furnished exclusively with pieces from Herman Miller and Knoll Furniture and accessorized with vintage objects and art found locally.

The fireplace, clad in native stone and flanked by windows with panoramic views of the Palm Springs area is a rugged contrast to the refined modernist furnishings. The entire palette of this residence is found in the natural landscape in which it is set.

After having sat empty for several years, the house became known as “the Forgotten Frey House”. We furnished the house just as the restoration was completed. We greeted about 2,000 visitors touring the house in a single week.
